Bengaluru : Anti-cow slaughter book’s Hindu writer thrashed by fanatics

Mahendra-MunothBengaluru : Mahendra Munnoth, the owner of Maruthi Medical Store in Vijaynagar and an advocate against cow slaughter, was attacked by unknown persons in Chandra Layout on Wednesday.

Munnoth, 45, has been fighting against cow slaughter for the last five years, and on Wednesday morning, he arrived at MM school near Gangammangudi to distribute booklets against cow slaughter.

Police said local residents preparing for Bakrid festival got angry over this, and started an argument with him, leading to a physical assault.

However, Mahendra managed to escape quickly when the Karnataka State Reserve Police, who were close by, saw the tussle and intervened. They rescued Mahendra and took him to Victoria Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case of rioting.
